The JEANRICHARD Brand takes its name from a legendary figure in the world of watchmaking - Daniel JeanRichard who pioneered the development of the industry in the late 17th century.  According to the legend, JeanRichard was fourteen when he first held a watch in his hand in 1679. In 1681 he created his first watch and then set up a watchmaking workshop.  He built a machine which he made available to his colleagues, and trained apprentices. The brand continues to honor the pioneer Daniel JeanRichard and his innovator's spirit remains a core value of the brand.  

Massimo Macalusco was just a few years older then the brand's namesake when his father introduced him to the world of watches.  The elder Macalusco used the Girard-Perregaus manufacture as a springboard to create JeanRichard as a second brand, systematically extending the collection, heading it ever more upscale - so that it now even includes a tourbilion.
