Junghans Pilot Chronoscope 27/3492.00 | 43.3mm Green Dial
Junghans Germany 1861A historic Junghans pilot chronograph, returned in deep green.
The matte dark green dial brings unexpected richness to Junghans’ historic aviation design, while the bicompax chronograph layout and luminous markings keep the display purposeful. Its 43.3 mm satin-finished steel case, sculpted 12-notch bezel and riveted leather strap give it confident wrist presence without losing the clarity of a true instrument watch.
Historic Flight Timing in Deep Green
Junghans produced instruments for aircraft and airships before developing its legendary pilot’s chronograph for the German Armed Forces in the 1950s. Its highly recognizable rotating bezel, shaped with 12 concave notches, became the foundation of the modern Junghans Pilot collection.
This contemporary Chronoscope combines that aviation history with a matte dark green dial and a balanced bicompax display. The central chronograph seconds hand and 30-minute counter provide the timing function, while the small-seconds display allows the dial to remain organized and immediately readable.
Aviation Character Without Visual Excess
We selected this reference because its color and historical detailing give it considerable personality without compromising legibility. The deep green dial changes subtly with the light, while contrasting chronograph displays, luminous markings and the distinctive pilot bezel keep the watch purposeful. It is an expressive alternative to the more familiar black and grey instrument watch.
A Substantial Instrument Watch
The 43.3 mm diameter and 14.4 mm height create definite wrist presence. Its finely satin-finished steel case keeps reflections controlled, while the sculpted bezel gives the watch much of its visual identity. The dark green and black riveted leather strap continues the vintage aviation character and visually connects the case to the dial.
Two Clear Ways to Measure Time
The automatic chronograph records elapsed seconds centrally and up to 30 minutes on the counter at 9 o’clock. The bidirectional bezel can also be aligned for quick interval tracking. Large luminous numerals and hands support immediate reading, while the small-seconds display at 3 o’clock confirms that the mechanical movement is running.
The bezel’s 12 concave notches recall the Junghans military pilot chronograph developed in the 1950s. The shape was designed to provide a secure grip, including when wearing gloves. Its bidirectional rotation and luminous reference point add useful timing capability while preserving one of Junghans’ most recognizable historical designs.
