The Type B Pilot Dial
Designed for Immediate Legibility
The Type B layout places large minute numerals in five-minute increments around the outer edge of the dial. The hours from 1 through 12 are displayed in a smaller inner ring. This distinctive configuration was originally developed to help navigators read minutes and seconds quickly and accurately.
