Replica 55: history in the details
The Replica 55 takes its proportions seriously. Its 55 mm case, Type B dial, and riveted leather strap recall the observation watches that shaped Laco’s pilot-watch identity. Large outer minute numerals surround a smaller hour ring, placing legibility at the center of the design.
Inside is a manually wound Laco 97 movement based on the ETA 6497.1. The oversized format and carefully considered details make this a compelling nomination for collectors interested in the origins of the Flieger watch.

Design of the Year
Frankfurt 40 GMT Grey: built around travel
The Frankfurt 40 GMT Grey brings Laco’s instrument-inspired approach to a 40 mm case. Its orange GMT hand and internally rotating bezel allow the wearer to track a second time zone, while the grey dial keeps the display visually restrained.
A dark sandblasted steel case, sapphire crystal, and automatic Laco 330 movement based on the Sellita SW330-2 complete the design. We appreciate the balance: a useful travel function with the clear, purposeful character that draws us to Laco.
