Three New Arrivals: Rolex Daytona, Audemars Piguet Royal Oak & IWC Spitfire

Timeless Tales  |  Selected by Legend of Time

A racing chronograph in white gold. An architectural icon in rose gold. An aviation watch with two ways to wear it. Three arrivals in our pre-owned collection offer three different answers to the same question: what makes a watch worth a closer look?

For collectors, the answer often lies in the details: proportions, materials, a particular dial, or the way a familiar design changes on a different strap. These Rolex, Audemars Piguet and IWC chronographs share the ability to measure elapsed time, but each brings its own character to the wrist.

01 / Racing Heritage

Rolex Daytona 116509: Precious Metal, Sporting Character

Rolex Cosmograph Daytona 116509 in white gold with Arabic numerals and red dial accents, photographed by Legend of Time

The Cosmograph Daytona debuted in 1963, and its connection to motor racing remains central to its identity. The tachymeter bezel gives that history a visible purpose: used with the chronograph, it allows average speed to be calculated over a known distance.

Reference 116509 brings 18K white gold to that sporting design. Its pale metal keeps the appearance restrained, while the Arabic numerals and red accents give this example a more animated dial. That balance is its appeal: precious-metal construction with an unmistakably sporting face.

Our perspective: This is a compelling choice for a collector drawn to the Daytona who wants a distinctive dial and the quieter visual presence of white gold. The interest is in the particular configuration, as much as the name on the dial.

Our example shows light signs of wear and includes a Rolex service card dated February 19, 2021. That is service documentation; it is not described as the original purchase papers.

02 / Design & Proportion

Royal Oak Chronograph 26022OR: Geometry with Warmth

Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Chronograph 26022OR in rose gold with silver Tapisserie dial and brown rubber strap
Rose gold, a silver textured dial and a brown rubber strap give this 39mm Royal Oak its character.

The Royal Oak made its debut in 1972. Its octagonal bezel, exposed screws and sharply defined surfaces established a design language that remains immediately recognizable.

This 39mm chronograph interprets that geometry in 18K rose gold. The silver Grande Tapisserie dial adds texture, while the brown rubber strap softens the overall appearance. It is a combination of structured metalwork and relaxed wearability that rewards looking beyond a straight-on dial photograph.

Our perspective: Collectors who pay attention to case size and finishing may find this example especially engaging. The 39mm proportions are a meaningful part of its appeal, and the warmth of rose gold brings another dimension to the Royal Oak's angular design.

This example comes with box and papers, a brown rubber strap in excellent condition and its original Audemars Piguet folding clasp. The individual listing describes the accompanying items in detail.

IWC Spitfire IW387901: One Watch, Two Moods

IWC Pilot's Watch Chronograph Spitfire IW387901 with green textile strap, presentation packaging and additional brown leather strap

IWC's 2019 Spitfire collection drew on the brand's Mark 11 navigation-watch heritage and brought IWC-manufactured movements throughout the range. The IW387901 combines that aviation influence with a 41mm steel case and automatic caliber 69380.

The black dial, luminous hands and clear Arabic numerals emphasize legibility. A day-and-date display adds everyday usefulness, while the green textile strap reinforces the practical character of the design.

Our perspective: This is the most casual pairing in the group. It may appeal to someone building a collection around watches they intend to wear regularly, with an interest in mechanical chronographs and aviation design. The additional brown leather strap offers an easy change in character without changing the watch.

The watch is in excellent pre-owned condition with light signs of wear. Its textile strap is in good condition, and the additional brown leather strap is new. Box and papers accompany it, including an IWC warranty card dated March 2022.
