In 1951, Junghans introduced a chronograph that combined telemeter and tachymeter displays within one carefully organized dial. The Telemeter Edition 27/5588.02 brings that historic design into the present through an expressive combination of deep green and warm yellow gold.

A dark green dial, matching embossed leather strap and yellow-gold-colored PVD case give this mechanical chronograph a confident yet refined presence. Limited to only 150 watches, the design earned first place in the Watch Design of the Year category at the 2025 Inhorgenta Awards.

A Telemeter Chosen for Color, Character and Design

We selected this edition because its unusual green-and-gold palette gives the historic Junghans Telemeter an entirely different personality. The warm case finish and rich green dial feel collected and distinctive, while the symmetrical bicompax layout keeps the watch elegant and easy to read. Its 150-piece limitation and international design recognition make it especially compelling for the Junghans collector.

The red telemeter scale estimates distance by measuring the interval between a visible event and the arrival of its sound. A traditional example is starting the chronograph when lightning appears and stopping it when thunder is heard.

The outer tachymeter scale calculates average speed over a known distance. Junghans integrates both historic scales into the dark green dial while preserving a symmetrical layout, with small seconds at 3 o’clock and the 30-minute chronograph counter at 9 o’clock.
