Junghans Meister Telemeter Limited Edition 27/3587.02 | 40.8mm Blue Dial
Junghans Germany 1861
A historic Junghans chronograph with two distinctive ways to measure.
First combined by Junghans in 1951, the telemeter and tachymeter scales bring genuine technical history to this beautifully balanced chronograph. Its matte silver-plated dial, symmetrical bicompax display and stainless steel bracelet create an elegant monochromatic design, powered by the automatic Junghans J880.3 movement.
Junghans first combined telemeter and tachymeter displays in a single chronograph in 1951. The Telemeter 27/3880.46 brings that technical idea into the present with the balanced proportions, curved forms and restrained elegance associated with Junghans’ historic Meister design language.
A matte silver-plated dial carries both measuring scales without sacrificing clarity. Black Arabic numerals, contrasting red telemeter markings and a symmetrical bicompax layout give the watch vintage instrument character, while the stainless steel bracelet makes this reference especially versatile for everyday wear.
We selected this reference because it accomplishes something unusual. It offers an automatic chronograph, telemeter and tachymeter while remaining elegant enough to wear with tailored clothing. The silver dial and steel bracelet create a cohesive monochromatic appearance, allowing the historic scales and softly shaped case to provide the visual interest.
The 40.8 mm diameter gives the dial enough room for its two scales and chronograph counters, while the 12.6 mm height keeps the profile controlled. A multi-link stainless steel bracelet extends the polished character of the case around the wrist and gives this version a slightly more substantial presence than the leather-strap Telemeter.
Running seconds are displayed at 3 o’clock and the 30-minute chronograph counter is positioned at 9 o’clock. Elapsed seconds are recorded by the central chronograph hand. The symmetrical arrangement keeps the silver dial visually balanced, while luminous dial printing and hands support reading in lower light.
The telemeter scale estimates distance by measuring the time between a visible event and the arrival of its sound. A traditional example is starting the chronograph when lightning appears and stopping it when thunder is heard.
The tachymeter serves a different purpose, calculating average speed over a known distance. Junghans integrates both scales directly into the dial, preserving the smooth case profile and refined appearance of the watch.
